Project statement: Through archival cultural research of post-modern americana, this collection was inspired through the lenses of Sue Kwon, Glen Friedman, Jeff Wassmann, among others. This urbancore collection delves into the nostalgia of American street culture, utilizing reworked tapestries and blankets.
Will White considers himself somewhat of an untrained artist, since he did not pursue the arts growing up. Late into high school he found himself intrigued by photography and styling, which transcended into a love for fashion and design. “I think an untrained artist has a different idea of how they perceive the world, I’m kind of free in the way that I don’t have to unlearn anything,” Will says about his artistic approach, “I see my outsider’s view as an advantage in the fashion world. I have no real reference point in fashion, as I have only been immersed for 3 or 4 years, I just feel like I adjust with the environment I’m provided”.
