Punk to Paper

I’m Asia Hamlin, a.k.a. chem! I am a Chicagoarea raised interdisciplinary artist and have been making art for as long as I can remember. Currently I study at Columbia College Chicago for a degree in illustration. I love to feature punk aspects in my work since punk music has been a big part of my life growing up! My dad introduced me to the rock and rap scene early on in my life, and ever since I was set that I wanted to make art inspired by these two genres combined. Recently I’ve been starting to tattoo, work with new mediums, and go on adventures around south loop, where I currently stay, to inspire more work. Balancing all of the things I do with what feels like so little time is hard, but having amazing friends who are creatives help not only artist’s block, but also understand the work I put into what I do.
